Accessibility statement
Last updated 11 September 2026
This platform is for every IMA Bengal State member, including those who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, or need larger text. This statement says what we have done, what we know is imperfect, and how to tell us when something blocks you.
What we aim for
We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, Level AA. This statement follows the format recommended under the Guidelines for Indian Government Websites and applicable Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 accessibility standards.
What we have done
- Every colour pairing on the site is measured rather than judged by eye. Body text sits at 15.5:1 against the page, and no text pairing ships below the 4.5:1 the guidelines require. Three colours were changed during the build because they failed that test.
- Colour is never the only way we tell you something. A status is carried by a label as well as a colour.
- The whole site can be operated by keyboard, and the focused element is always visibly outlined.
- The site is fully bilingual in Bengali and English, with type chosen so that Bengali reads as well as English rather than being fitted into a Latin face.
- Pages use real headings and landmarks, so a screen reader can move through them by structure.
- Forms label every field, and an error names the field it belongs to and says what to do about it.
- The site works at 200% zoom and on a small phone without side-to-side scrolling.
What is not right yet
We would rather list these than let you discover them.
- Some helper and caption text is smaller than 12px, which is below what we would want on a small screen.
- Some overlays stack awkwardly on a phone held sideways.
These are being worked through. If one of them is what is standing in your way, say so and it moves up the list.
Telling us about a problem
If any part of this platform is hard to use, contact IMA Bengal State or call a helpline number in the footer, and describe what you were trying to do. We will help you complete it directly while we fix the cause. We will acknowledge an accessibility complaint within 2 working days and aim to resolve or provide a workaround within 7 working days.
